The breakfast, which was an extra €7- per person, was good quality, well cooked and the serving staff very efficient and attentive. Alternative pillows and blankets provided in wardrobe - good idea - as duvet was like a brick.
The room was far too small to have a double & single combination. Two chairs added to the lack of space. Shower cubicle too small - smacked arm off shower receptacle. Window looked out on to back of Guinness brewery with compressor going non-stop followed by a high pitched alarm sounding through the night. I felt it was too expensive for the standard of accommodation offered. Have stayed in way better for the same price.
Whilst rooms were small they were well furnished. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Shower could do with an upgrade
Very accommodating staff, good location in city centre
The proprieters were away for a family emergency the weekend I stayed and a former (retired) employee served as our hostess. She could not have been any more cheerful, kind, accomidating and helpful during my stay. It was a delight and she served the house well.
My only complaint is that the wireless internet was not working properly during my stay and that was a disappointment. One of the reasons (but not the principal reason) I chose Portree Guesthouse was because you advertised it as having wi-fi availability, which was helpful - if not necessary - to my business there.
Staff, location and the general service were second to none
Very welcoming staff, Chris gave us the lowdown on the place and could have supplied all local tips. We made use of the downstairs hostel kitchen briefly, helps with the budget. The room was clean and comfortable, plenty of space to relax, the downstairs lounge room was good.
A very warm welcome on entering the hotel..very good facilities. A very flexible place...a home from home...had independent kitchen in the basement if you wished to cook your own..lovely gardens...and private car park ... a home from home...just around the corner from the hussle and bussle..very convenient and peaceful..going back again soon...
you can get to the center of the city in walking.Good selection of food for the breakfeast.
as soon as you arrive you have to pay even if you having seen the room. The rooms are small and cool the heating is program between 3pm to 3 am The fourniture is ok but our matress is due for changing you could fell the coils in our back . The bathroom need refreshing the shower is old .we rent 2 rooms and in one of the room the tv was not working. We rent a lot of BB in 2 weeks in Irlande and this one was the more expensive and the on that we like lest.We don.t see why this BB is so well recommending .
A excellent privately run hotel, very close to all that waterford has to offer, walking distance to an abundance of restaurants and pubs. The free tea and coffee are a must are a long walk around the town.
Old world , family run, basic hotel but welcoming atmosphere. Close to city and has own parking. No frills, budget accomodation perfect for traveller or groups.
Needs upgrade but then price will increase!
The portree is a budget, friendly, clean hostel with a warm welcome on arrival. I would reccomend and use again.
Just the fact you risk getting a parking ticket while you go in th find out about parking arrangements. There is car parking around the back but you initally have to leave your car to go in and find this out and the traffic wardens are very keen.
Small space average surroundings.
My husband and I stayed one night at the Portree and ver much enjoyed the experience. It is a very beautiful period house, comfortably furnished.good bed and lovely period dining room and a good variety of breakfast foods.I Hope to stay there again on my next visit to Waterford and would reccomend it to family and friends.
I would find it difficult to find any fault with this guesthouse.
Very friendly service . also very comfortable place to stay.
The room could have been cleaner and I think the check out time should be the standard 12 o'clock not 11!!
